Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information FixMyPrompt processes, why we process it, how it is used, where it is stored, how long it is retained, and whether it is shared with third parties.

Last updated: July 30, 2026

1. Overview

FixMyPrompt (“we”, “us”, or the “Extension”) is a Chrome browser extension that helps you score and improve text prompts on supported AI chat websites. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not require an account to use the free Extension.

Personal information we do not collect: We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell your name, email address, phone number, payment details, or browsing history across the web. The Extension does not use cookies for analytics or advertising.

2. What data is processed

2.1 Prompt text (when you optimize)

What: The text of the prompt you choose to improve (for example when you click “Fix Prompt”, grammar, tone, concise, or expand).

Why: To generate an improved version of your prompt using an AI model.

How it is used: Sent only to our AI inference provider to return the optimized result to you. We do not use this text to build a personal profile, serve ads, or train a marketing database.

Where it is stored: Transmitted over HTTPS to Hugging Face Inference (router.huggingface.co). We do not operate a separate FixMyPrompt server that stores your prompts.

How long it is retained: We do not retain prompt text in an identifiable user account. Retention by the AI provider is governed by that provider’s own privacy policy (see Section 5).

2.2 Live prompt scoring

What: The text currently in the chat input, used only to calculate a quality score and tips.

Why / how: Scoring runs entirely in your browser. This text is not sent to a server for scoring.

Where / how long: Processed in memory on your device while you type. Not uploaded for scoring.

2.3 Data stored locally on your device

What: Prompt history you save, templates, local usage statistics (for example number of optimizations or scores), and extension settings (theme, shortcuts, replacement mode, and similar preferences).

Why: So history, templates, stats, and settings persist between sessions on your device.

How it is used: Only inside the Extension to show your history, templates, analytics panel, and settings. This data is not uploaded to us.

Where it is stored: In Chrome’s local extension storage on your device (chrome.storage.local).

How long it is retained: Until you delete it in the Extension or uninstall / clear the Extension’s data.

3. What we do not collect

  • No account or sign-in is required for the free Extension.
  • No name, email, phone number, or payment information.
  • No advertising identifiers or marketing cookies.
  • No analytics or telemetry SDKs that track you across websites.
  • We do not sell or rent any user data to third parties.

4. Sharing with third parties

We share prompt text with a third party only when you click an optimize action, so the AI provider can return an improved prompt. We do not share your local history, templates, settings, or usage statistics with third parties.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share data with advertisers.

5. Third-party service: Hugging Face

Optimized prompts are generated using Hugging Face Inference. When you optimize, your prompt text is sent to Hugging Face so a model can return a result. Hugging Face processes that request under its own terms and privacy policy: huggingface.co/privacy.

6. Permissions

The Extension requests only the permissions required for its core features:

  • Host access to supported AI chat sites — to detect the chat input and display the optimizer toolbar on those pages only.
  • Host access to router.huggingface.co — to send optimize requests to the AI provider when you choose to improve a prompt.
  • storage — to save history, templates, settings, and local stats on your device.
  • sidePanel — to open the FixMyPrompt side panel (history, templates, stats, settings).
  • tabs — to detect the active supported page and open the side panel reliably.

The Extension does not use the scripting, cookies, activeTab, or alarms permissions in the free Chrome Web Store build. Content scripts are declared for specific supported sites only (not injected via the scripting API).

7. Children’s privacy

FixMyPrompt is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Extension after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
